New Online Inspection Strategy

New strategy guarantees smooth plant operation during inspection

TÜV Rheinland has introduced a new online inspection strategy for oil companies utilizing its specialist knowledge in advanced non-destructive testing (NDT). With the new strategy, plants can now remain fully operational, without interruptions, during inspection of their high temperature environments.

Improved cost efficiency and asset stability for plant operators

Thanks to the expertise of TÜV Rheinland, plant operators no longer need to shut down plants during corrosion mapping and weld inspection of low-alloy carbon steel in high temperature environments of up to 350 °C. Corrosion spots and cracking of material can also be monitored while production continues, resulting in reduced maintenance costs and improved cost efficiency for plant operators.

TÜV Rheinland uses a wide range of technologies

The new strategy takes advantage of specifically developed techniques and modern inspection technologies such as Time of Flight Diffraction (ToFD), Phased Arrays, SeeScan Corrosion Mapping, Ultrasonic Thickness Measurement (UTM), Electromagnetic Acoustic Transducer Measurement (EMAT), and Pulsed Eddy Currents (PEC). Furthermore, TÜV Rheinland is currently researching and developing new solutions for the inspection of high temperature environments from 350°C up to 475°C with complex geometries.
